Softball Programs
AAYO offers softball programs for many age brackets by "league age". League age can be determined by using the age chart below. The teams have 10-12 player per team. AAYO also offers Travel Softball Programs (Algonquin Aces) starting at 11U.
Looking to have your daughter get more competitive but not ready for the commitment of Travel. This year the softball program will have a 10U All-Star team to compete in some local tournaments. There will be tryouts to earn a spot. More information to come.

U8 (Ages 7-8)
8U Softball is designed for seven and eight year old players. This league teaches kids fundamentals of softball and to have fun while doing so. Players will learn to use proper throwing mechanics, proper base running, correct hitting form, and a continued reinforcement of the basic rules of the game. This league is player pitch with some coach pitch. All league participants will have an opportunity to try all positions. The games are semi competitive and there will be an umpire. No walks, steals, or bunts in 8U. Note that Girls in the infield will be required to wear a facemask, and that is to be supplied by the player.
U10 (Ages 9-10)
10U Softball is a competitive league where there will be steals, bunts, and walks. The goal is to learn more advanced mechanics (Pitching/Catching/Throwing/Hitting) of the game in a competitive and fun environment. In addition players will learn about working together as a team and the value of hard work. There is a win/loss record kept by the League Coordinator. Playoff brackets are figured at the end of the season. Pitching is player pitch only. Note that Girls in the infield will be required to wear a facemask, and that is to be supplied by the player.
U12 (Ages 11-12)
12U Softball is a competitive league where there will be steals, bunts, and walks. Girls will move to 12 inch softballs as well. The goal for girls is to continue to learn more advanced mechanics (Pitching/Catching/Throwing/Hitting) of the game in a competitive environment. In addition players will learn about working together as a team and the value of hard work. There is a win/loss record kept by the League Coordinator. Playoff brackets are figured at the end of the season. Pitching is player pitch only. Note that Girls in the infield will be required to wear a facemask, and that is to be supplied by the player.
U14 (Ages 13-14)
14U Softball is a competitive league where there will be steals, bunts, and walks. The goal for girls is to continue to learn more advanced mechanics (Pitching/Catching/Throwing/Hitting) of the game in a competitive environment. U16 (Ages 15-16)

The goal for girls is to continue to learn more advanced mechanics (Pitching/Catching/Throwing/Hitting) of the game in a competitive environment. In addition players will learn about working together as a team and the value of hard work. There is a win/loss record kept by the League Coordinator. Playoff brackets are figured at the end of the season. Pitching is player pitch only. Note that Girls in the infield will be required to wear a facemask, and that is to be supplied by the player. As a result of the age group this league targets, games do not begin until after June 1 to comply with high school eligibility rules.
